Digipoort and SI-UBL. B2G invoices route through Digipoort, the government's message broker, using an OIN for recipient identification. SI-UBL 2.0 includes Dutch-specific extensions beyond standard UBL. If your pipeline already handles Peppol BIS 3.0, the Dutch market is straightforward. Many Dutch businesses already use Peppol for B2B transactions voluntarily.
Peppol FAQ
- What is Peppol BIS Billing 3.0?
- Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 is the invoice format used across the Peppol network. It is based on UBL 2.1 and is a specification of EN 16931, the European e-invoicing standard.
- Do I need to be on the Peppol network to check a file?
- No. You can check any Peppol BIS 3.0 invoice file without a Peppol connection. Sending it still goes through your Peppol access point.
- What is the difference between Peppol BIS and plain UBL?
- Peppol BIS adds its own business rules and restrictions on top of UBL 2.1 and EN 16931. A file can be valid UBL and still be rejected by a Peppol access point, so the check covers the UBL schema, the EN 16931 rules and the Peppol rules.
- Is checking free?
- Checking is free. The first verified download every 30 days is free. After that €1.90 per invoice, or €9 a month for all of them. Checking needs no account. You only pay when a file has passed the check and you download it.
- Do you fix my invoice automatically?
- No. We never change amounts, line items or taxes. Where mandatory details are missing, you supply them, we enter them and check the file again. If the export from your invoicing system is structurally broken, you get the error report for your software support, free of charge.
- Where is my file checked, and is it stored?
- On our servers, not in your browser. Your file is used only to check and fix your invoice and to deliver your result. Results are kept so you can download a verified file again for 90 days; validation logs are deleted after 90 days. You can request deletion at any time.
