Factur-X FAQ

What SIRET format does a French invoice need?
A SIRET has 14 digits: the 9-digit SIREN of the company plus the 5-digit NIC of the establishment, with a Luhn check digit. The check proves the number is well-formed, not that the business exists.
Do I need a code de service?
Chorus Pro uses the code de service to route an invoice to the right department of a public buyer. State bodies require it; other public bodies decide for themselves, and the Chorus Pro directory shows whether a buyer needs it.
What replaced the PDP, and what does the PPF do?
Under the 2026 reform, invoices between French businesses are exchanged through approved platforms (plateformes agréées, PA — formerly called PDP). The public portal (PPF) no longer exchanges invoices: it runs the central directory and collects the data for the tax authority.
Which Factur-X profile does the French reform accept?
The reform's core formats (AFNOR XP Z12-012) are Factur-X, UBL and CII, each in the EN 16931 and EXTENDED-CTC-FR profiles. MINIMUM is not an invoice. Ask your approved platform before relying on BASIC WL.
How is Factur-X different from ZUGFeRD?
It is not: Factur-X 1.09.2 and ZUGFeRD 2.5.2 are the same specification, published jointly by FNFE-MPE (France) and FeRD (Germany). Country requirements come from each country's rules, not from the file format.
Is checking free?
Checking is free. The first verified download every 30 days is free. After that €1.90 per invoice, or €9 a month for all of them. Checking needs no account. You only pay when a file has passed the check and you download it.
Do you fix my invoice automatically?
No. We never change amounts, line items or taxes. Where mandatory details are missing, you supply them, we enter them and check the file again. If the export from your invoicing system is structurally broken, you get the error report for your software support, free of charge.
Where is my file checked, and is it stored?
On our servers, not in your browser. Your file is used only to check and fix your invoice and to deliver your result. Results are kept so you can download a verified file again for 90 days; validation logs are deleted after 90 days. You can request deletion at any time.
